Property Tax

Property tax depends on the taxable value of your home. This is applied to the rate of property tax.

The value where you live does not necessarily mean that it is the same as the home’s market value. If housing prices go low, it is possible that taxable values should also golow.  So if you feel that your property tax has been miscalculated, you can always go to the municipality’s office to request
an appeal.

Do not go unprepared. Make sure that you research a bit on the other homes in your area. Bring with you a copy of your own property assessment. Check the calculations and don’t forget to factor in any structural changes made on your home that could affect your home’s value.

Contact your area’s tax official and inquire about the process of properly filing an appeal. Based on the information you’ve gathered, make sure that you provide all the requirement and then some.

You will need to prove that your current tax assessment has been miscalculated so you have to be able to give evidences. Have the documents photocopied and certified, if necessary. File the form and wait until you get contacted.
