Removing Scratches from Sunglasses
Removing scratches from sunglasses can be a tricky task. You have to realize that different brands of sunglasses use different types of protective coating. There is no one remedy and you should be aware that some might do more harm than good.
If your sunglasses are under warranty, or if you have the resources, always opt for having the glasses professionally fixed. Having said that, if you still feel that a do-it-yourself method would work, then here are some tips to help you.
The most common scratch remover that can be found in one’s home is toothpaste. What you need to do is to get a clean microfiber cloth. Apply a bit of toothpaste unto the cloth and gently rub on the lenses of your sunglasses in a circular motion. Repeat until the scratch is gone.
Another home remedy is baking soda. Simply make a paste by adding a bit of water to baking soda. Apply on the lenses using a microfiber cloth. Again, rub gently in a circular motion. Wipe paste off, then buff with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.
You can use products such as Armour Etch and Brasso. Just follow directions as printed on the packaging. However, some people either love or hate these products. Use at your own risk.
