List down all your electricity expenses. Do you have a long list of appliances and do you really need all of them?
How many air conditioners do you have? Guess what, coolers could be the most costly appliance you got. So before you plug it, think. Is it really that hot? Try using a fan instead. An electric fan can give you enough cooling action.
Want to heat up the room without using a heater? Higher humidity will make the temperature warmer. After your bath, you can use the steam in the bathroom to add heat to the rest of the house. Just leave the bathroom door open. The same principle applies for when you’re boiling water. Do you have a wood-burning stove?
Why not stock up on firewood whenever you have the time.
It’s better to wash clothes with warm water, but you can always wash with cold water so you won’t have to heat it up.
Whenever you’re washing the dishes, try doing the whole pile so you can finish the job in one go.
Boil water and store it in the thermos, instead of having to boil a cup whenever you want coffee. In the same way, don’t boil more water than you need to prevent unnecessary use of gas.
Unplug everything. Even if you’ve shut down your computer and turned off your TV, they are still consuming energy. If you’ve plugged a lot of your appliance, it might be a hassle to unplug all of them every time, so the most convenient and fastest way is to use power strips.
Before buying new appliances, check the energy ratings. See what’s economical and energy-efficient.
