Time is of always of essence. It’s something that you can’t bring back once it’s wasted. The key to efficient use of time is to make efficient budgeting of schedule. Housework is one task that can be done in less time than it usually takes if, like any office task, we use a schedule for it.
Making lists is fine but it is not of much use if we neglect to use them. If we do make lists, be sure to use them as a guide. Make sure that the list is visible. Tape it on the refrigerator door or if you have a cork board in the kitchen or the living room.
Make the schedule manageable. You don’t have to do everything in one day. You can break tasks into smaller one. For example, you can allot 30 minutes everyday to do one specific chore such as cleaning the downstairs bathroom. You can also put an extra 10 minutes everyday for picking up littered objects and putting them in their rightful places.
Don’t do it alone (that is if you don’t live alone). Divide the chores among family members. Those small chores that your kids can do will save you precious minutes you can use for something else. Not only will you be able to get tasks done, you’re also teaching your kids (and spouse) to be independent beings.
