These are some suggestions and tips on how to take care of your dentures or retainers. These will make sure that they not only last for a long time, but that you put clean and germ-free piences in your mouths as well.
You may clean your mouthpiece anytime of the day you want, whenever it is most convenient for you. Most people clean theirs in the evening right before they go to bed as part of their nightly ritual. If this works for you, then you can do follow this schedule as well.
Remove the dentures or retainers from your mouth. Have a small mug or cup ready – or a container in which your mouthpiece can fit with some room to spare.
Fill this mug with hot (not boiling) water. About 3/4 to the top will be fne. Drop one denture cleaner tablet into the water. It will fizz and dissolve. You can buy this tablet from the pharmacy or from your dentist.
Next, drop your mouthpiece into the cup as well. Do this while the denture tablet is fizzing. You can soak your dentures or retainers for at least two hours. If you are not required to wear your mouthpiece during the night, you can leave it in the cup to soak overnight.
Rinse your mouthpiece well after soaking. Just simply pour out the water from the mug and place your dentures or retainers under flowing hot water. Brush with your toothbrush and toothpaste if you want before wearing them.
