So you’re taking a career assessment test? A little nervous about the results? Well don’t be. Here are some tips on what to do to make sure you do your best on this exam:
Do not be intimidated by the test. A career assessment test may help you in pointing you to the right direction if you’re a little unsure of what career you would like to go into. It will factor in your skills, interests, and personality. However, it doesn’t mean that you would have to put yourself into a box based on the results. Use them as a gauge, ultimately, you are still in charge of your life.
We know this is quite difficult to do, but relax. Get enough restful sleep the night before the test. Dress in comfortable clothes. Don’t forget to eat in the morning – just enough so you won’t starve during the test, but not too full that you feel lethargic or worse – sick.
Read the directions carefully before answering. Scan the whole test too so you can do quick calculations on how to use your time properly. Do not dwell too much on aquestion, just skip and come back to it later.
Be yourself and answer the questions to the best of your ability. try to enjoy the test.
Avoid comparing answers with other people after the test. This will only make you feel anxious about something that you can no longer undo. Tune out the discussions and wait for the results.

1These tests really aren’t that difficult or something to stress about. I’ve taken several before, and they aren’t going to be the last tests to take when searching for a career. A lot of companies are starting to use a PEO to administer pre-employment tests to ensure that you are the best candidate for the job. None of these tests are stressful in my experience, however everyone feels differently about testing.
