
Taking breaks at work cannot be considered as being lazy, especially if you take the short, meaningful ones. Some companies even require or encourage their employees to have one or two fifteen minute coffee or tea breaks.
Taking breaks is important as it helps the brain and the body reboot. They both get exhausted over aĀ certain period of time, and even if you force yourself to work on, you’ll find out that you lack the concentration to do your tasks. The output also do not share the same good quality as that as when your mind is rested.
Some tasks need fresh eyes to accomplish. Step out of your cubicle and walk around a bit. Try to think of other things besides the problem you’ve been working on. Chances are you’ll be able to find a solution when you get back to it.
Stretch! Spending hours hunched in front of the computer cannot be good for your posture. In time, you’ll be experiencing strange aches and pains. Take advantage of the breaks to do some quick stretching.
You can also use breaks to bond with your co-workers. A little friendly interaction can sure break the monotony of the daily grind. You’ll find yourself energized when you get back to work after sharing a few laughs with friends.
