Piggy Bank

One thing parents should aim to teach their children is to make sure that they know how to handle finances well. These are some of the points that parents should emphasize on:

Money does not grow on trees. Children should learn that their parents work hard to earn money. This can be taught by giving kids a small allowance for some daily tasks they are required to do everyday, such as washing dishes or taking the trash out.

Money has to be saved. Sometimes, one doesn’t always have enough money to buy something. Children should learn not to spend their money for petty things. They should also learn that if they want to buy something they can’t afford yet, they should keep their money until they have enough. This will also teach children to prioritize their spending.

Money needs to be kept somewhere safe. Money, especially in large amounts, is much safer kept in banks. Children can understand this by having somewhere to store their hard-earned cash. You can give them piggy banks. Older children can be enrolled in their own savings accounts in the bank.
