White clothes can be quite difficult to maintain their whiteness as they tend to grow yellow with age, and if you’re not careful when washing, can easily be stained with other colors.
Pay attention to the information on the label when doing the laundry. Separate white clothes from the colored ones before you begin laundry. Go thorugh the clothes and look for stains. Treat them before you do the washing. Make sure that the stain remover you use will not damage the cloth. Avoid using chlorine bleach all the time. When clothing dries, it usually leaves a yellowish color on the cloth.
Use hot or warm water for whites. If you can adjust the settings on your washing machine so that only hot water comes into the tub, then all the better. Again, check the label of the clothing just to be safe. If you have white clothing that you haven’t worn in a while, take themĀ out for a good washing.
Clean your washing machine once in a while. Detergent and other residue can build up in the tub. These can get diluted and might transfer unto your white items.
