
This is not an easy question to pose to one’s self in the light of the present economic situation. However, there are signs out there which will tell you if you need to jump off ship for better opportunities.
This always poses a risk, but if you feel that a change of working environment would be more productive for you, then do it. If you are worried of letting go of the stability you have right now, you can always look for another job while staying in your company. No reason for you to resign immediately from your current position without first securing a new one.
You should change jobs if you feel that your safety is being compromised in your current job. This can be due to the physical environment itself, but if there are people in the workplace who threatens you.
You should change jobs if you feel that you are not growing professionally in your current career. If it seems that you are not going anywhere with your chances for advancement is next to zero. Find somewhere else where you can be challenged to do more.
You should change jobs when you start to question the morals of the company. If you cannot stomach the lack of ethics being practiced at work, especially if they are opposed to your principles.
You should change jobs if a new and good opportunity shows up. If you think you can’t let it pass you by, grab it!
