LS_Rumor

No matter how careful you are, there is always one point in your life when you’ll be the topic of rumors. Just in case it happens, here are some pointers on how to deal with it with class.

Take it with a grain of salt. Not really easy if it also affects other people. Thing is, overreacting to any rumor, whether it’s simple or not, will not do anything to alleviate the situation. What you need to do is to calmly and rationally assess the situation.

Take some time to evaluate. What may have cause the rumor? Sure, it could just be plain malice of those who have nothing better to do, but we might also be doing things that help propagate the rumor. It may be the way we act, or dress. You don’t need to change anything if you don’t want to but it does help to understand why the rumor started in the first place.

Although it is recommended to simply brush the rumor off, this may not always be the case – especially if other people are involved. You can set the record straight and explain yourself to the people who do matter.

The thing with rumors is that they do die a natural death. Once you’ve resolved the issue on your end, then let it be. The less drama you make out of it, the sooner the rumor will also disappear.
