Job Interview

Do you want to know how to win over other qualified job candidates? Then heed these tips and you’ll surely get that position that everyone is scrambling to get:

Documentation. You shouldn’t only have a well-written resume and cover letter, you should also have a proper portfolio, especially if you are required for samples of your work. Don’t forget to collate all your certificates, commendations, and other documents that would be proof of your proficiency in certain skills, or attendance in workshops, training, and seminars. Place them in a formal clear book or a presentable folder. Make sure that these are eye-catching, grammatically correct, and neat.

Interview. During your interview, make sure that you are neat and properly dressed. Be on time and don’t forget to bring a copy of your resume with cover letter, your portfolio and other documents. Own the interview by being intelligent, funny, insightful, personable, and memorable. If you thing that you lack these traits, you can always practice before the interview. Ask a friend to help you. Don’t forget to be punctual on the big day and be polite to everyone.

Follow-up. Don’t forget to make a follow-up call a few days after the interview. You can also send a note, thanking them of taking time to interview you. This will makeĀ  you stand out from the rest. Just be careful though, and don’t overdo it. If they say that they will contact you, don’t push it.
