Write the note within a week or two of attending the event. Not only is this customary for thank you notes, but it will help you remember the details so you can thank your hosts more sincerely.

Printed cards are so-so, but hand written ones are the best. This makes the thank you more meaningful and not to mention, personal.

Choose a nice and clean stationery or a blank card. It doesn’t have to be anything overly fancy as long as it looks neat and clean.

Start with a sentence that thanks your hosts for inviting you to the event. State that you had a wonderful time. The next two or more sentences should mention what made the occasion special.

The last sentence should emphasize your appreciation for being included and mention that you are looking forward to acting host to them next time.
