A nice office waiting area can make visitors, feel more at ease. This also leaves a good first impression on VIP guests and clients. A dim, unkempt, and unwelcoming waiting area can reflect the type of business you do.

Make the office waiting area simple but tasteful. It should be neat and uncluttered and most importantly, comfortable. Choose contemporary furnishings with clean lines. Choose paint for walls that are cool in the eyes such as pastel colors, or just plain white. If you’re opting for wallpaper, make sure that it does not have a very busy design.

Furnishings should be simple. There should be comfortable seating for at least 5 people (if your business does not involve a lot of visitors on a daily basis). There should also be a coffee table, and a magazine rack. Have a phone available in the reception area, in case a guest might need the phone. You can also have a water cooler or a coffee machine nearby, but these are optional.

For decor, just make do with a focal point. This can be a large ornamental flower pot, or a vase. But recommended is a painting or any wall decoration.
