Are you going on a vacation? Perhaps, one of your concerns is leaving your house unattended for a while. Here are some tips on how to secure your house even if you’re not there.

One option is to let a trusted friend or a relative to house sit for you while you’re on break. This way, your house won’t be considered a good target for burglars.

Tell your neighbors that you are going on a vacation. They might see a moving truck there (courtesy of burglars), and they might think you’re actually moving.

Have your mail and paper delivery stopped. A full mailbox can alert people that no one is at home. You can also have a neighbor take your mail for you.

Get a light timer for your hall lights, radio, or even TV. They should go on and off at appropriate times during the day. Close all your curtains too so nobody can peep through the window.

Allow your neighbor to park in your driveway during your vacation. Have a trusted friend or relative to mow your lawn as well. These will give a sense that someone is at home. You can invite your neighbors to hang laundry on your wash line or they can even use your pool.
