Most people who go on a diet or trying to eat healthy make mistakes when it comes to lunch, especially if they are out of the house at work or in school, where there are food choices abound, some not so healthy. Here are some suggestions on how to eat a healthy lunch when you’re outside your home.

Make sure you eat something. Starving yourself will make your body turn to defensive mode, conserving calories and slowing down your metablosim. Better to eat something healthy rather than eat nothing.

Pack your lunch. By cooking your own food, you control the fat and calories in the ingredients and you can make sure that you do not include processed ingredients as well. Try to make an effort to prepare something in the evening or when you wake up in the morning.

If you have no choice but to eat out, then pick the healthiest choice -(salad, or soup, or if meat, make sure it’s lean, if you’re ordering a sandwich, pick wheat instead) Do not be tempted by the combo meal and order one meal.

Avoid ordering flavored beverages. Even fruitshakes can have sugar syrup. Stick to plain cold water instead.
