Here are more tips to help your children develop their literacy at an early age:
Expose your kids to words. Play a game wherein you label a different objects every day. Write the word on a piece of paper, make sure that your child sees how you write it. Let your child repeat the word and have him or her tape it on its respective object. You may leave the labels for the day so your child can see them and remember them.
Let your child practice writing and spelling by assigning the grocery list to him or her. You can write a few things down on his or her list which you can bring to the grocery as well.
You can also encourage your kid to write notes or letters to you, relatives, and some friends. Not only will it help your child read and write better, but you are also teaching your child good written communication skills at a yong age.
When your kid asks a question to which you have no answer, you can both look it up in a book or dictionary.
