Prepping for Your Kid’s Stay in the Hospital
If your child is required to stay in the hospital for a long period of time, here are some things as a parent to make the stay as comfortable for your kid.
Bring an extra pillow. If your child has a favorite pillow, blanket, or stuffed animal, bring it with you. This will help them feel assured. If you’re going to sleep at the hospital, you can also bring one for your use.
If it is possible to bring your child’s own bedwear, you can bring these along with you as well. The familiar scent of their own clothes will help them sleep better at night.
Bring activity books and puzzles to help alleviate your child’s boredom, if they are mobile enough to use them. If not, you can bring story books which you can read to your children.
Try to have a family dinner. Get your spouse and your other kids to visit once a week. Get food from the hospital cafeteria and eat together with your child.
