It is nice to be in love and although we sometimes have no choice on whom to fall in love with, it is still better to think twice before getting into a romantic relationship with someone from work. Why? Here are some points you may want to consider:

A lot of people would like to compartmentalize work life from their private life. This would be more difficult if you get involved with someone from work. For some people, it might also be a problem when it comes to differentiating which role to play around their partners.

Especially if the two people involved do not belong to the same hierarchical positions, there might be conflict of interest when it comes to decision-making, especially when it involves promotions and work evaluation. Even if you are not guilty of “favoritism,” this would be very hard to prove, and thus, hurting your credibility.
