Food is one classic gift when going to a funeral. The right food can comfort people. If you plan to bring a dish to a funeral, here are some tips you might want to follow:
Many people appreciate a hot soup, especially when they are down. Try chowders and other rich soups which you can freeze and reheat.
Another traditional gift is lasagna and other pasta dishes. Casseroles too are good comfort foods.
Find out other classic comfort foods such as cakes and puddings, rice dishes, and other not-so-tradtional dishes such as jambalaya.
Many people would probably bring food too. So make sure you bring something that can be frozen and reheated. Do not expect that the bereaved family would eat the dishes right away. So include a small card that has reheating instructions.
