Tell someone about your pain. It can be a friend, a relative, a shrink, a priest or pastor, or a counselor at school or work. It may even be a stranger Sometimes, we’re all just wanting for someone to listen to us. Sometimes, saying things out loud does the trick.

Keep yourself busy. The worst thing to do when you’re depressed is to stay at home and do nothing. When you do nothing, you start thinking and chewing on your problems. Better to be active in other things such as a hobby, or an exercise program, or work, to keep your mind off depressing things.

Do not turn to addictive substances such as alcohol and drugs. These only provide short moments of reprieve. Not only that, they’re also bad for your health and cause for a slow painful death.

Seek professional help. You may not see it now, but answers exist for your problems. A counselor or a psychiatrist can help you can get out of your depression. They can pinpoint the root cause and find ways for you to overcome them.
