Loose carpeting, rickety chairs, crowded office space with stacks of books on top of cabinets. Apart from the obvious fact they are an eye-sore, these are just some of the things that can be the source of injury to staff and workers. Any good company who value their employees would understand that safety in the workplace is of uttermost importance.

If workers get injured, a lot of precious time could be lost, especially if what that particular person is doing a specialized task. It will also need assigning a substitute or it may even call for re-organizing work structure while the injured worker is recuperating.

The workplace too might get shut down or a particular area, depending on the gravity of the situation. You might need to send other employees home and if it’s for a prolonged period of time, they might find it better to look for employment elsewhere.

Workers who are injured will ask for special compensation to help with the medical bills and for support while they cannot work. In worst case senarios, when the company refuses to compensate, workers can also sue them.

If accidents happen due to neglect of the company (i.e. by not looking into the upkeep of the workplace), the company will soon get a bad image in the industry and this could mean loss of clients and customers. There would also be a high turnover of employees and that ould be costly in the long run.
