Okay, I’m a fan of board games especially those that help develop the brain. Well, Monopoly’s quite a scary game to teach to kids. I’m not for teaching kids how to go for the big bucks right of the bat. Those you learn later on in life.
But one thing I think kids should learn [...]

Here’s a real cool freeware that I’ve used to make short demonstrations and tutorials: Wink*. Macromedia (Adobe) launched Captivate a while back which is a really powerful tool for making tutorials or even quizzes but Wink is freeware with pretty functional for the everyday user!

Here’s another post that could help you in your quest for truth. Or to have something “intelligent” to share in your next boring company party and amaze your bosses. It pays to be a Smart Alec(x) know-it-all at times.
James*’ post on how to tell if someone is lying is still one of the popular [...]
Essay-type exams. Most people hate them; sadistic professors love to give them. They’re not like multiple choice-type tests where any lucky guess can get you the points. It’s what they would lovingly describe as “something that would test what you really know and understand.”
Sure it matters if you’ve studied a whole lot to prepare [...]
I’m a recovering academic: a university lecturer that chose to leave the ivory tower because, frankly, I prefer my own company. I still run into young students, however, who are keen to work in academe and pump me for advice. In the true spirit of the internet, here’s my take on how to succeed [...]
I was recently talking to some senior high school students about how you e-mail people in the business community, prospective employers, college professors, etc. The majority of them had no idea how to approach the matter, and those that turned in example e-mails misjudged the tone you should take when writing a formal e-mail.

Although I attend many meetings a week and write stacks of notes I’d be exaggerating if I said I got a lot out of them. The notes, that is, not the meetings!
I am, however, not the only one it seems. Talking to a bunch of teachers at a planning meeting the other I noticed [...]
College students with profiles on social networking sites such as Facebook and Myspace might have yet another hurdle to clear in their pursuit for that dream job.
Imagine putting all your efforts into a single goal. Almost anyone, in fact everyone, could say they have done just that. Whether creating your high school bowling team to [...]
You’ve done the university cap and gown parade. You received your diploma and picked an elegant frame for your new bachelors degree. Now what?
You need to find gainful employment. If you have planned well, you also have internships under your belt and maybe even a potential job offer waiting for you. [...]

To improve the way you communicate, take two minutes to write more effective e-mail subject lines.
The Problem
Too many people fall into the trap of writing vague e-mail subject titles like “Hello”, “Hi” or even forget to bother with a title at all. The trouble is that junk mail tends to look pretty much the same. [...]

There’s an ongoing myth claiming that you have to sacrifice a lot of free time for your studies. Nothing could be further from the truth. Education isn’t just about listening to lectures – it’s also about experiencing new things outside the confines of a classroom. This means that you shouldn’t spend your growing-up years [...]
