Yesterday, Microsoft released a list of 12 updates that’s supposed to patch 20 vulnerabilities.
Now check bulletin MS0-010 which is supposed to patch Windows OneCare, Windows Defender and the Forefront Security and Antigen products.
Here’s a quip from Microsoft (from the Computerworld article):

“The underlying component [of Windows Defender] does ship with Vista,” acknowledged Mark Griesi, security program [...]

And yet another complaint against. It’s funny. I remember back in the great transition from Windows 98 to XP, there weren’t too many problems in backward compatibility. But Vista isn’t making loving it an easy thing to do.
First it was the specs. Then it was the cost. I was expecting businesses and other developers to [...]

No quick tip for today, read that: emergency! Why? Mozilla Firefox will be relaunching its add-on site by Feb. 12 and part of the launch will be the removal of thousands of add-ons from its list.
Mozilla is apparently doing this to streamline the list for new users. Let’s face it, add-ons have been the favorite [...]

How to Remedy those Carpet Stains

Carpet stains pose a great cleaning challenge. But they happen all the time – spilled soda, chewing gum (yelch!), pet urine – inevitably. That carpet will take a beating someway, somehow. And professional cleaning might just cost you the same amount as having your floor re-carpeted.
Here are some tips on how to remedy those stains:

Hehehe. Here’s another one of those news that makes you go “What the heck?”
In an announcement made by Apple, they warned iTunes users not to upgrade to Vista just yet and stick with good old Windows XP citing some compatibility issues that still have to be tried and tested out with the new MS OS.

How to Make Your Own Furniture Cleaner

Pledge may have done the job, but here’s a bit of McGuyver stuff for you. I’ve come across these two “home-brewed” recipes for furniture cleaner that just might do the job of some commercial products. Here are home remedies to get dust and greasy film off your valued pieces of wood:

1/2 teaspoon light olive oil [...]

All the while, I’ve been blogging about Firefox 2 and haven’t really written about Firefox 3. What’s nice about Mozilla is they alway keep their development open to the public. Such is the case with their developments with Firefox 3 dubbed as “Gran Paradiso.”
As the title of this post states, they’ve made Firefox 3.0 second [...]

News flash! To those who think that broadcast quality TV can be done online right now, you might be mistaken. Internet companies have said that they’ve been doing much work just to keep the data flowing from video sites like YouTube and Joost.
Google, who has acquired YouTube last year has said that the Net (including [...]

Believe it or not, MP3s may just be the bane of any anal-retentive, obsessive-compulsive music afficionado there is. And here are the top peeves I get from my own cluttered collection:

Different file name formats
Incomplete/blank ID3 tags
Inconsistent groupings in folders

Here are not one, but two tools that I could recommend to you for your MP3 woes [...]

Vista’s out. But you have two major problems. One, your PC’s specs can’t run Vista. And two, you don’t have the money to upgrade to Vista yet. But that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying the sight of Vista interface right? Right!
Hence, the freeware gods have blessed XP users with the Vista Transformation Pack. You read [...]

For every person who knows and actually does computer maintenance, reformatting your hard drive and reinstalling Windows is probably one of the most tedious tasks. Advanced users would probably have a spare or external hard drive which contains an exact replica of the fresh operating system hard drive that can be “ghosted” every time the [...]

Some of the applications you use are memory hogs. Perhaps a sign of shoddy workmanship, there are even times when applications wouldn’t free up the memory they’ve used upon exit. Good thing there are other applications that let’s you manage your RAM.
There are a handful of these but some full-featured ones on the hands of [...]

Going back to the article I wrote about starting a small business, third point. Startups can really benefit from outside help.
Kiva, a San Francisco-based startup has created a way for small-lenders to network together to reach a wider audience. Here’s what Computerworld wrote about Kiva’s work:

Kiva’s approach is straightforward. Entrepreneurs working with established local microfinancing [...]
