Due to extreme shock and fear, people oftentimes forget what they need to do in case of emergencies. Although it is wise to find someone who has more experience in first aid to attend to the victim, the inexperienced bystander can still help out by calling the emergency hotline. Here are some reminders in making the important emergency call.

Even before an emergency strikes, make sure that all emergency hotlines and numbers are seen when you’ll be needing it. Post these numbers by the refrigerator door or insert a piece of paper with the emergency numbers inside the cellphone case. The last thing you would want to do is to look frantically around for the emergency number.

Give the operator all the details of the incident including but not limited to the following:

Your name — this is optional but you would want the emergency team to identify you and the victim immediately when they come

The circumstances of the emergency and what exactly happened to the victim

The number of people injured

The victim’s condition or any injuries

Emergency site — include the street names and landmarks if possible

The number of the phone you are using. If you are using a pay phone, tell them the exact pay phone you are calling from

If there is an experienced person providing first aid and the particular first aid that was given to the victim

Do not hang up immediately after providing the necessary details wait until the operator tells you that all the information that you gave is enough.

Traveling by car with infants, toddlers or children are not an easy task. Seatbelts are not enough to secure the safety of the young ones especially even on bumpy roads, sharp turns and near accidents. Because of these hazards, car safety seats are invented to ensure the safety of your children whereever you go. However, not all cars and safety seats are created equal. Here are some tips on care safety seats.

Acquire a car safety seat even if the baby is not yet born. A safety seat should be available on the very first car ride of an infant. Hospitals usually provide car safety seats to their pregnant patients. These free car sfety seats are either free or purchased at a lower cost. If your hospital does not have this service, buy a car safety seat immediately before your infant’s first car ride home.

When canvassing safety seats, bring your car and your child along to test the possible candidates. Or better yet, ask the salesperson if you can return the safety seat if your child cannot fit into the safety seat or he is not comfortable while seated on it. Make sure that the car seat that you’ll buy is appropriate to your child’s height and weight and can accommodate thick coats and other clothes.

When out buying a new car, bring the safety seat with you. Opt for cars that allow provisions for your baby safety seats. If you are going to rent a car, call in advance if there are car models that adjust to the car safety seat. Don’t ever force the safety seat to the car and vice versa.

Remember this seating arrangement for your child: always have your child seated at the back seat. Infants less than a year old should face backward while older babies and toddlers are seated forward to avoid motion sickness. Have at least one other adult seated at the back to watch over the child.

How can you lose something as big as a laptop? Usually, the most reasonable explanation for losing it, is because some criminal forcibly took it from you. Otherwise you’re just plain careless. However, with the creativity of thieves today, you’d never know.
usa online casinos, us online casinos, usa casinos, us casinos, usa online casino, us online casino, casino usa

Always secure your things. A common place where people lose their laptops today is the coffee shop where they leave their computers behind to order something or do something else. There’s a reason why public places have those “Don’t leave your things unattended.” signs. As for leaving your laptop in your car, just don’t do it. Thieves often scout cars with bags in them so don’t make your car and your laptop a target.

Use locks. Most laptops have Kensington lock holes. These locks would allow you to secure your laptop to the table (pretty much like a bike lock for laptops). Invest on one of these if you have the habit of leaving it behind.
online casinos, best online casinos, top online casinos, new online casinos, flash online casinos, no download online casinos, usa online casinos

Password protect it. Make sure that whatever computer or operating system you have that it’s set to require a password to log in. While this will not deter determined thieves at least you create another electronic barrier to your data. Lock your keyboard when leaving it behind as well.

online gambling, online casinos, usa online casinos, us casinos, usa online gambling, casino online, online casino
Secure your data. Still, you’d never know if your laptop will get pinched. So if you have confidential personal data (financial and identity) and work data. Consider using encryption tools such as TrueCrypt. This will at least prevent access to your sensitive information.

Snake bites affects thousands of people all year-round. While there are only a very few fatalities relating to snake bites, some snake bites victims suffer from severe complications like infection, crippling injuries and anaphylaxis. Damage can be managed to a minimum if speedy medical attention is given to the victim. Here are some other things to remember when dealing with snake bites.

Fortunately, most snake bites are not poisonous. However, do not assume that a snake bite is not poisonous if you haven’t examined the victime thoroughly. Watch out for the signs and symptoms of a poisonous snake bit which include the following:

Puncture wounds that resemble fang marks

Sharp pain, bruising and/or swelling around the bitten area

Fuzzy and unclear vision

Nausea and/or vomitting

Diarrhea

Garbled speech

Difficulty in swallowing and breathing

Seizures

Beginning signs of paralysis

Seek medical assistance immediately. While waiting for them to arrive, keep the victim composed and peaceful. Let the victim lie down or sit still and as much as possible do not let him move. Clean the wound under warm running water and put on sterile dressing. Splint the bitten area if possible.

Take note of the physical appearance of the snake including, size, color, and skin pattern. This will be very useful since doctors and other medical personnel will be able to identify the the exact specie of the attacker and determine the best treatment for the victim.

Even with non-poisonous snakebites, it is critical to seek medical attention. The snakes may transmit bacteria and other pathogens with their bite.

Accidents happen and some grave ones happen at home. While paper cuts can be more common, you just have to know how to deal with more severe situations. Here are some tips on dealing with severe bleeding.

Have someone dial the emergency number immediately. One person should be able to accompany the victim and the other should stay on the phone to provide the necessary information to the emergency team.

Let the victim lie down and take off any clothing around the wound. Make sure that you don’t waste any time and cause any additional pain in doing so. If there is no object embedded in the wound, apply pressure on the wound with cloth or with your bare hands.

It is advisable to raise the wounded area of the victim above the heart level to stop the bleeding. Do this only if it will not cause further pain and damage to the victim. If bleeding stops, dress the wound with a sterilized bandages or a clean cloth if sterile dressing is not available. If the bleeding persists, add more absorbent material as you continue to apply pressure on the wound.

Avoid removing the dressing on the wound. If the current dressing is already soaked with blood, place another dressing on top instead of replacing the previous dressing.

Encourage the victim to lay still and not move. Also avoid giving the victim anything to eat or drink.

If severe bleeding carries on for more than 5 minutes, apply pressure on one of the main pressure points of the body located at the wrists, upper arms and at the folds of the groin. Apply pressure on the main pressure point closest to the wound. Remember that this should only be done as a last resort. It is best to wait for emergency team to arrive as they are more experienced and knowledgable in dealing with these situations.

As parents, your number one duty is to protect and safeguard your children. Unfortunately, there are a lot of evil doers in society which means parents should double the effort and time in watching over the children. Here are some tips and reminders to consider when ensuring the children’s safety.

Do not leave your children unattended in any public place. Also avoid leaving them in the car even if the doors are locked and you got the keys with you.

When you plan to enroll your children in a day care center or school, check their policy regarding pick up when the school hours or day care services are over for the day. Children should be released only to their parents and recognized guardians. Ask the school to also phone you to confirm if you child is really absent from school.

Always be involved in your children’s activities. Make sure that you know and are familiar with his friends and friends’ parents . Knowing the parents of your child’s friends can make it easier for you to establish a network of extended guardians if you are really not available on a certain day. Just be sure to return the favor when they need someone to watch over their children.

Teach your children to never go with a stranger for anything. Even if the stranger asks for help in looking for a “lost pet,” your child should refuse and stay away. This may be rude and impolite but it can prove to be the best protection for your child against sudden kidnapping.

Home burglary can cause serious trauma to you and your family. It shatters the idea that your home is the safest place to be on the planet. Complicated home-security systems are very expensive and cannot guarantee that your house is safe all the time. However, you can discourage thieves to enter your home without having to break your savings. Here are some tips on inexpensive and simple ways to safeguard your home against intruders.

Make sure that your house is well-lighted at night. Burglars tend to steer clear of well-lighted houses since it increases the probability of being seen and identified from afar. Have two outdoor lamps on your front door just to make sure that the front door will not be dark in case one blows out. If you have extra money, install flood lights than can detect motion. This will automatically put the burglar on a spotlight when he attempts to break-in your home.

Do keep your valuables from plain sight. Displaying all your hard-earned possessions by the window will most certainly invite burglars into your home. Store highly valuable and irreplacable items in unlikely places like cookie jars, food freezers and flour bins. Burglars will usually look around on familiar storage areas like under the beds, underwear drawers and closets.

Reasses all your door locks at home. Door locks are often flimsy and can be easily be smashed open. It would be better if you install deadbolts on every door entrance. Also remember that secure door locks will mean nothing if the doors are hollow or a glass window is right beside the door. Make sure there is no way to open the door other than releasing the locks.

Having a fool-proof fire plan is commendable but you wouldn’t want to use it anytime soon, right? Preventing house fires from occurinng in the first place is your best bet from suriving any house fire. Here are some fire prevention tips to take note of.

Remember that fire needs three things – oxygen, fuel and heat. While you cannot do anything about oxygen since it is readily available, you can do something about fuel and heat. Most fires occur because the root cause of the fire supplied the heat.

Heating equipment at home poses as a major risk for house fires. Have your heating system examined by your trusted professional at least once a year. Repair and replace the equipment if necessary.

If you use wood or coal in your home, ensure that the equipment has a fire prrof floor protector and is meters away from the wall, furnitures and other flammable materials.

After using the wood or coal, let the ashes cool before clearing it away. Place them in a covered metal container, not a box or a bag as it may combust should a small flame ignite.

Child safety in a vehicle does not stop by just having a car seat for
your baby. Here are more tips in keeping your child safe in the car:

Make sure that the car seat you acquired meets federal safety and
crash performance standards. If you’ve inherited a car seat, make sure
that it’s not older than 6 years. It might already has essential parts
missing. Check the stamp of the car seat and call the manufacturer of
the seat to be sure.

When placing the seat in the car, make sure that it is tilted in the
correct angle (45 degrees). This will ensure that your baby’s head is
supported properly. Check if your child’s chin does not touch his
chest. This might block airway.

Check your local fire sttaion and have an inspection staff (with
national certification) check the installation of your car seat.
