Since I’ve consolidated all my contacts in my Gmail account, it has become more efficient for me to use GTalk as IM client. Too bad I have to have the client installed and running. Since I also do a lot of my work through my browser, why not load GTalk in my browser? Sure, [...]

Okay, so maybe I was too harsh with the Go button. But I do have to apologize to people who find it useful. It’s just that my circle of friends who are really advanced users never use it (being keyboard ninjas all). Seems like some people over at Forever Geek love the Go button.
In [...]

Honestly, how many of the more advanced Firefox users use the Go button? I don’t. I think I never did. Hitting the Enter key never failed to work for me. So why not get rid of it? It saves up some space for all those other add-on buttons that you might have there. Here’s [...]

Here’s another cool tweak by adding a few things in your userChrome.css file. While it doesn’t really affect Firefox performance, it’s another tweak to make your Firefox browser, your own.
Here’s how to change the progress bar’s color:
Open your userChrome.css (I recommend using ChromEdit Plus)
Insert this code at the bottom /* Progress bar color */ [...]

By default, the Firefox sidebar is located on the left-hand side of the screen. Yesterday, I wrote about moving the Tab bar to the bottom by editing the userChrome.css file. Today, we’ll be using the same techniques.
So here are some quick steps in moving your sidebar to the right-hand side of your screen:
Open your [...]

For the most time, I’ve been featuring what I deem are helpful Firefox add-ons. I’ve featured a few tweaks here and there but most of them are done through the about:config page. This page already gives you oodles of noodles but you can do a lot more by tweaking other stuff with Firefox.
For example, [...]
Many other web services tell something about a site. Google shows you pages and link information. Alexa gives traffic rankings. Technorati gives link information by freshness and authority. So if you’ve got some questions on how credible or visited a site is, you may want to access these information.
Here’s a neat add-on that gives [...]
With the tons of Firefox add-ons out there, you’d eventually find that only some will suit your needs. Even the ones I feature here might not be fitting for the way you use Firefox. Like Web Developer, it can be overkill for the ordinary user.
Having too many add-ons can cause Firefox to consume a [...]

A few days ago, I pointed out that one problem with having too many add-ons and toolbars is space. They really tend to cramp your whole browsing space. One alternative I pointed out is to shrink your menu bar. It gives you some added breathing room to view more of the website you’re visiting. [...]

These have been around for quite sometime now but you might want to check them out again. For newer Mozilla Firefox users, these are quite interesting. Firefox does actually have these so-called hidden pages. Call them easter eggs if you want but a bunch of these hidden pages are quite useful.
You can just type [...]

This add-on has been around for a long time now, I just keep forgetting to write about it. If you’re like me who has a habit of listening to music while browsing the web.
Sure players such as Winamp can be set as an always-on-top toolbar or Windows Media Player automatically shrinks into your Taskbar. [...]

One behavior that you might notice when typing something on the Google search field is that it pops out suggestions from your previous searches. Clearing your history is a good privacy and security measure. Especially when you search all sorts of “stuff” on the family computer. You don’t want your kid brother to come [...]

While I love Firefox’s stability, I’m not too keen about the environment it works in, especially when it’s running on Windows. Anything can happen on a Windows machine - crashes, corruption, failure and worst, unrecoverable data crashes.
This means that everything you’ve been tweaking and fine-tuning, including Firefox will be gone. Unless, of course, you [...]

I’ve been featuring a lot of add-ons lately with some toolbars like StumbleUpon, Web Developer, and Download Statusbar, all of which tend to take up some browser space.
For those a bit conscious about your browsing space, you might want to trim down on some of the other things on your screen. Ever since I’ve [...]

Ever had a problem with forums, boards, and even blog entry interfaces that have too small a text input area to type on? I have a habit of posting long-ish comments, so to me, it does. How about another add-on that lets you do just that. Here you go - Resizable Textarea.
Yet another simple [...]
